Prayer Vigil for Leah Sharibu
Friday 14th May 12noon-2pm Saturday 15th May 10am-12noon
In February 2018 110 Nigerian School girls were abducted by a faction of the terrorist group Boko Haram. While all of her surviving classmates (5 girls died during the abduction) were released the next month following government negotiations, Leah, the sole Christian among them was denied her freedom as she refused to convert as a precondition of her release. It was last reported in 2020 that Leah was alive and well but now considered a slave for life.
May 14th this year is Leah’s 18th birthday and Leah’s faith inspires us to trust in God and persevere as she does.
To mark this event, we are holding a prayer vigil for Leah here at Wylde Green URC on Friday 14th of May between 12-2pm and on Saturday 15th of May from 10am-12noon.
Please come and spend some time in prayer and reflection in the church sanctuary, for Leah, for her family, and also for all those people around the world who are persecuted and live in fear because of their faith or beliefs.
